Good location. Just a few minutes' walk to the beach and restaurants. Private kitchen with good amenities. Beds equipped with curtains, plus lockers large enough to fit big backpacks. The dormitory room included two showers, two toilets, and two sinks.

The reception service turned my stay into a deeply disappointing experience. The shared rooms were cleaned regularly, and most of the hotel staff were kind, friendly, and helpful.

Didn't like: Unfortunately, I had a deeply distressing experience with a receptionist who was extremely rude and disrespectful. Despite having stayed at the hotel for four days, he questioned whether I was a guest, claimed he could not find my reservation, and refused to authorize access to the parking area, even though this had been discussed with the reception the previous day. His behavior made me feel humiliated, vulnerable, and concerned about possible racial discrimination as a Black woman. My friends and I nearly missed a pre-booked excursion and had to split up to find an alternative parking solution. This incident seriously overshadowed the positive aspects of my stay.

8/10, not bad :) I liked the hostel a lot, has a nice pool and you can watch the sunset from there. There is a kitchen for guests and a fridge. The hostel worth the price, has a lot of amenities and you can ise hair dryer for free, staff is kind. David was my favorite, he works at front desk and also check the tours and nightclubs, he is very kind and handsome and was great all the time, he did some arrangements for me to go to tours. I will come back to the hostel for sure.

Didn't like: The toilet door couldn't be locked, the towels had a strange smell, and some of the bathroom fixtures were detached but hadn't been repaired. Furthermore, there are no longer any yoga classes, but yoga classes haven't been removed from the group's schedule.

Really nice dorms and beds, sociability aspect is up to you. Unexpectedly pleasantly surprised by how nice this hostel is. I've been to some social hostels that seem to take 'party friendly' as an excuse for grime and poor maintenance - this place is definitely not like that! I stayed in the female dorm - the construction of the beds + crisp white sheets remind me of capsule hotels in Japan, and there's a large translucent window that lets in a lot of natural light. The beds are quite comfortable for a hostel. The dorm also had its own washroom area - 2 toilets, sinks, and showers, all separated. I loved that the AC is on the whole day - midday naps or a break from the heat is possible, and it means that the humidity in the room is fairly controlled so your stuff actually dries out. As for the social aspect - when I was there for 2 nights during the offseason, they were not running social events, but they do have a DJ (who is pretty good!) and a happy hour every night; I was able to meet lots of people there - seems like it's used as a place to pre and gather friends and groups for potentially going out to the clubs/bars. I found the people mostly friendly - the vibe seems to skew towards the attractive, beach loving, party happy crowd (you can decide if that's a positive or negative). The bar itself was surprisingly pricey. The lounge area does not have AC, but is kept pretty cool by fans and a consistent sea breeze coming through. The location is extremely good - it's right next to a very fairly priced taco place; across the street is a convenience store and the entrance to the public beach; it's a short (<10 min) walk to the main club/bar area and approx. a 15 min walk to the ADO bus station to/from the airport.

Didn't like: The water cooler did not work while I was there, and other people at the hostel told me not to bother since the water tasted funky. I would have liked to see more activities on offer for travellers on a budget, or assistance from staff to track down deals (ex. with transportation - the front desk kept suggesting a taxi, and I had to find out for myself that there was an ADO bus stop in the hotel zone) - after all, we're staying at a hostel.

Mayan monkey is a smart move for travelers on a budget. The staff were too nice, I loved them. Miguel is whole vibe. Dave knows what the move is if you want it catch a party or club. Stephania was soooooo sweet. I’d say more about the others I just could not remember some names. They were fantastic.

Didn't like: The pool needed to be cleaned but other the usual as far as hostels go, the hostel is great.
