Reviews
Review highlights
- Cleanliness8.6/10
- Multiple guests described the property as very clean; a few noted cleaning could improve slightly, so overall cleanliness is above average.
- Service7.6/10
- Service is mixed: several comments praise friendly and helpful pool/tiki and resort staff, but there are complaints about unfriendly staff, strict/poor handling of late check-out and occasional front desk unprofessionalism.
- Location9.6/10
- Location repeatedly praised (near zoo, airport, ocean, Mission Valley; short drives to attractions) and considered a major positive of the property.
- Room Quality6.8/10
- Rooms are described as large at times, but multiple issues were raised: small bathrooms with limited counter space, aging rooms, flat pillows, shower/AC problems and occasional leaks — lowering the room quality score.
- Amenities9.0/10
- Pool, spa, jacuzzi and tiki bar are highlighted repeatedly as resort-like and family-friendly; some facility negatives (ice machine, no elevator, parking logistics) noted but overall amenities are a strong selling point.
- Value for Money6.0/10
- Many guests felt the hotel was expensive for its age and amenities (complaints about high room rates and additional parking fees), producing a below-average value perception.
- Food and Beverage6.4/10
- Several mentions that food and drinks were overpriced and not great; limited complimentary offerings (e.g., paid coffee) further reduce satisfaction with F&B.

Hotel was clean, good facilities. Needs to work on staff customer service, and make parking fee know First receptionist was not very welcoming, and you guys hide the $20+ dollar a day parking fee in the fine print. Facilities were nice,
Didn't like: Friendlier receptionist, also $20+ dollars a day to park is freaking outrageous...

They just don’t make hotels like this anymore. We will be back! The handler is a treasure and a landmark from an era tha We loved everything about the pool area! It’s wonderful to have the bar and restaurant right there. The pool was clean and warm and it felt like we were in a tropical resort!
