Punta Cana is a prime destination for group travel, offering a wide array of lodging options that cater specifically to larger parties. Unlike individual hotel rooms, group stays here often mean private villas, sprawling homes, or even multi-unit resort properties. These options typically provide more communal spaces, private pools, and dedicated staff, making them ideal for family reunions, bachelor or bachelorette parties, and friends' getaways. While many properties are within gated communities like Cap Cana or Bávaro, offering a sense of security and exclusive amenities, walkability can vary significantly. Most group stays will benefit from arranged transportation or rental vehicles, though parking is generally readily available at private villas. The choice of neighborhood can also define your group's experience, from the upscale, golf-centric vibe of Cap Cana, known for its luxury resorts and pristine courses, to the more lively, beach-focused atmosphere of Bávaro, popular for its vibrant nightlife and public beaches. Understanding these differences helps Anywayr (formerly Travelry) recommend the best fit for your group's preferences.
What to look for in a group stay here
When selecting a group stay in Punta Cana, prioritize the number of actual bedrooms over the "sleeps" capacity. A villa advertised as sleeping 12 might achieve this with sofa beds or bunk beds in common areas, which may not suit all group members. For true comfort and privacy, aim for properties with at least one dedicated bedroom per couple or individual who requires their own space. Many of the best group villas in Punta Cana offer five or six bedrooms, providing ample room for everyone to relax and unwind without feeling cramped.
Consider the layout of the property. Multi-level villas can offer separate wings or floors, which can be highly beneficial for groups with varying sleep schedules or those who appreciate a bit of personal space away from the main communal areas. Another common pitfall is underestimating bathroom needs. Look for properties with a good ratio of bathrooms to bedrooms to avoid morning queues, especially with larger groups. Many high-end villas include private pools, fully equipped kitchens, and expansive outdoor dining areas, which are essential for group bonding, shared meals, and creating lasting memories. Some even come with dedicated staff, such as a chef, butler, or housekeeper, significantly enhancing the group experience by handling daily chores and simplifying logistics, allowing your group to fully enjoy the vacation.

Booking tips for larger groups
Booking for a larger group often involves different considerations than booking for a couple or small family. Expect higher security deposits, which are standard for larger properties and groups to cover potential damages. Cancellation policies can also be stricter, often requiring more advance notice, so review them thoroughly before committing. Many hosts require a substantial deposit upfront, with the remaining balance due closer to the arrival date. When it comes to splitting payments, Anywayr can help facilitate this process, or you can use third-party apps to manage contributions from each member of your group. Clear communication with your group about financial commitments and deadlines is key to a smooth booking process and avoids last-minute complications.
