Anywayr wrote this. We make a group trip planner, so we have tried to be fair and say where the others are better.
The short answer
- Pick Layla if you are planning mostly on your own or as a couple or family, and you want an AI planner with real people available to plan and book for you.
- Pick Anywayr if several people have to agree on the trip: inviting friends, voting on where to stay, and keeping track of who owes what.
An older version of this page described Layla as an AI chatbot whose booking was limited to links to Booking.com. Layla's own site now describes something quite different, so we rewrote the page from its current pages.

What Layla is today
Layla describes itself as an AI travel agent and trip planner. You give it dates, destinations, budget and travel style, and it builds a day-by-day plan, using what its site calls live pricing and availability [2]. The plan can cover flights, hotels, activities and dining [2].
The other half of the pitch is people. Layla's home page says you can "Plan your trip with AI. Perfect it with travel experts." Its FAQ says human travel experts can make bookings and update the plan along the way [1][2]. It also says it handles multi-city and road trips, and family, solo and couple trips [2].
On cost, its FAQ says there is no subscription fee and that you pay only for the travel you book [2]. The App Store listing for the app shows in-app purchases of $9.99 a month and $49.99 a year [3]. The listing says subscribing to Layla Premium gives an account unlimited access to the app, and tells buyers to check the current prices in the app before purchasing. The website and the listing differ on what costs money, so read the screens in the app before you commit.
What Anywayr is today
You enter a destination, dates, travelers, budget and interests, and Anywayr builds a day-by-day itinerary. Planning is free [5][9].
The difference is the group layer. You invite friends by link, the group can vote on stays and rental cars, and the trip keeps a record of shared costs with settle-up links for Venmo and Cash App. The money moves in those apps, not in Anywayr [4].
For booking, we are specific about what happens where. Hotel and flight search work without a trip, and Anywayr offers its own checkout for both [7][8]. Vacation rentals and activities send you to the partner site to book [6]. You can also text Anywayr to start a trip, or connect it to Claude, and to ChatGPT in developer mode [10][11].
Where Layla is better
- Human help. If you would like a person to plan and book the whole trip, Layla says its experts do that [1][2], and that their help comes at no extra planning cost [2].
- A mobile app. Layla has an iOS app listing [3]. Anywayr is a website with a text assistant.
- Trip types it names. Its FAQ speaks to road trips, multi-city routes, family trips, solo travel and couples [2]. If you are a solo traveler or a couple, you do not need anything Anywayr adds.
- Itineraries that include flights. Layla says its plans cover flights and use live pricing [2].
Where Anywayr is better for a group
- Everyone sees and votes on the same trip. Friends join by invite link and react to stay options, instead of one person pasting a plan into a group chat [4].
- Shared money is tracked. Who paid and who owes what is kept with the trip [4].
- Vacation rentals sit next to hotels. Anywayr shows VRBO and Airbnb options in the same Stay tab as hotels, so a group can compare a house against rooms. You book rentals on the partner site [6].
What to check before you choose
Layla's pages we read say little about groups, so the useful test is to try it with your own trip. Some questions worth answering before you commit:
- Can the people you are travelling with open the plan and change it, or only see a copy?
- What exactly do the in-app purchases in the Layla app unlock, given the website says there is no subscription fee?
- If you use a human expert, how are bookings paid for, and who do you contact if something changes?
- On Anywayr, which parts of your trip book inside the app (hotels and flights through our checkout) and which go to a partner site (rentals and activities)?
These are the points where the two products differ most, and none of them can be settled by a feature list.
Which should you pick?
If you are one person or a couple and want an AI plan with a human expert to fall back on, try Layla.
If you are planning with friends or family and need to agree on a place to stay and split costs, start on Anywayr. You can also use both: Layla for inspiration, Anywayr to get the group to a decision.
