Reviews
Review highlights
- Cleanliness8.4/10
- Multiple guests describe rooms as clean and comfortable, though some mention an old-smoke smell in places and occasional housekeeping issues (e.g., no towel change during longer stays).
- Service9.0/10
- Service is mixed but often praised — staff described as helpful and accommodating in several reviews, though there were isolated negative incidents (card handling at check-in, slow response to maintenance requests).
- Location10.0/10
- Consistently highlighted as the main strength: very central, ideal for visiting Chicago attractions and repeatedly called the best feature of the hotel.
- Room Quality8.4/10
- Rooms are functional and of good size with AC and comfortable beds, but the property is older/’historic’ and some guests note dated decor, dim rooms and occasional issues (e.g., initial lack of hot water).
- Amenities8.2/10
- Basic amenities are present (air conditioning, functional rooms), but several guests report limited in-room supplies (paper cups, powdered milk), disposable breakfast ware and inconsistent towel/service practices.
- Value for Money8.0/10
- Mixed perceptions: some find the hotel reasonably priced for its central location, others feel it is too expensive given the poor breakfast and dated aspects of the property.
- Food and Beverage4.0/10
- Frequently and strongly criticized — breakfast described as poor, very limited (sliced bread, muffins, cereals), low quality and served with disposable crockery; a clear weak point in guest feedback.

The location of the hotel and ease of check in.
Didn't like: I was able to hear full conversations in the room next door. The location of the room outside was an alley.

The location is great. The bed is comfortable and is very clean.
Didn't like: There is an unpleasant smell in the rooms, the windows cannot be open. After more than 10 days, I’m still waiting for the deposit to be returned.

I would definitely stay there again if I am in the area in the future. Comfortable bed, nice bath, helpful staff, wonderful cafe attached to the hotel
Didn't like: The only negative was the lighting. There were several lamps all over the room but no main lighting for the whole room. There was a wall switch which might have been for a light but it did not do anything. I would have liked a brighter room while I was sitting at the desk, or unpacking/packing

I recommend the hotel 10/10 thank you for everything Excellent location, the hotel staff very friendly all the time, very good cleaning and always on the lookout if you need anything else
Didn't like: The shower (it may seem silly but the water pressure of the shower was very low in difference with the sink or toilet)

Everything excellent, just the breakfast disappointing, free but aimed at the bottom of the market. Great location, great room/
Didn't like: Breakfast very poor, with mostly cheap ingredients that I never normally eat.

Dishonest management Location.
Didn't like: The hotel changed its breakfast policy a month after I'd booked my stay, but never warned me. They removed the breakfast and handed over $14 vouchers to be exchanged at the local pastry shop. Not only is this ridiculous, but the fact that they did not provide such information in advance proves malicious intent (I'd booked it so I could cancel up until a couple of days before arrival). Additionally, the shower was too short (I had to crouch), the mattress was too soft and room was facing a wall with very loud AC systems attached to it (impossible to sleep).

A great value and location. Very fast elevators with no tap in required, close to doors at lobby and room. Thoughtful adjustable lighting and quiet HVAC are very welcome.
Didn't like: Wifi router not in room and sometimes was slow.
