Reviews
Review highlights
- Cleanliness8.3/10
- Generally described as very clean and elegant in multiple reviews, but several guests reported strong room odors (musty/mould-like and a sewage-like smell) that noticeably impacted some stays.
- Service9.3/10
- Staff repeatedly called friendly, helpful, and accommodating; front desk resolved an AC issue by moving a guest. Some criticism of slow or insufficient responses around odor and valet fees, but overall service sentiment is very positive.
- Location9.6/10
- Consistently praised as excellent — central, within easy walking distance of markets, restaurants, carriage rides, and waterfront attractions; a major strength of the property.
- Room Quality8.2/10
- Rooms frequently noted as comfortable with good beds and attractive decor, but guests reported issues like dark rooms, thermostat/AC failures, low water pressure, and occasional musty smells that lowered room quality for some stays.
- Amenities9.2/10
- Strong amenities mentioned (coffee stations on each floor, on-site restaurant and coffee bar, outdoor lounge, complimentary water bottle) though some guests noted absence of a pool and pricey valet.
- Value for Money7.4/10
- Multiple guests commented that the hotel is pricey in many ways (high nightly cost, expensive valet, no included breakfast in some cases), reducing perceived value despite the high-quality offerings.
- Food and Beverage9.4/10
- Food and cocktails described as amazing, restaurant atmosphere inviting, and the on-site coffee bar appreciated — F&B is a clear positive across reviews.

Beautiful spaces, great food and bar, convenient location. Loved it! So beautiful and convenient location to see Charleston.
Didn't like: Minor things…. I would have liked a pool, an area for smoking somewhere on the property, and the housekeeping and delivery staff entered the room without us knocking at the door twice during our stay. Easily solved with the do not disturb sign always in the knob during your stay.

Gorgeous, glam boutique stay, get your $10 coffee elsewhere Stunning shared spaces, location is unmatched.
Didn't like: Coming from California, I was still SHOCKED, by the prices at this property - food, coffee, even the rate is $$$$! The room was so small for the premium, and staff less friendly than they have been in the past.

Location and style
Didn't like: We where underneath the gym so noisey

Wonderful weekend getaway It‘s a beautifully designed hotel. We really like the aesthetic they went for. Smells really good too. It‘s great to have an in-house coffee shop, restaurant, 24/7 gym, and lobby space to hang out. Water/coffee stations are also great. Room was spacious and clean. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel.
Didn't like: King bed seemed to be a bit short and matress could be a bit firmer but that‘s just our personal preference. Living room TV was a bit weird.

Great hotel. Customer service could be better. This property was beautiful with lots of great amenities. We loved the little stations on each floor. It’s in a fantastic location directly next to the market, which makes you feel like you’re in the heart of everything, because you are.
Didn't like: The staff ultimately was what made this loose a few stars for me. The valet guys were exceptional, but most of the interior hotel made it seem like a burden if we asked for anything. Ex: we asked for an extra water bottle because we had 4 people in a room and were only given 2 and ran out of the water bottles we had packed and it’s the middle of summer and they never brought it and questioned us as to why we needed anymore. We needed more towels, again, because we had a suite for 6 people, only had 4, but needed additional ones because there was only enough for 2 people. They made it seem like we were asking for too much when it was a simple request.

Didn't like: All was great

The room had a great old jazz & blues era feel. There was even a usable record player that I thought was a great touch. Very spacious and comfortable and the location was prefect.

Fruit and coffee/tea stations were great and location was perfect.
Didn't like: Mattress really soft and sinks in in the middle - so hard to get comfortable. Thermostat centrally controlled so you cant set your own temp (the technician they sent up to us when it wasnt working explained that to us). Costumer service lacking - we had to call/text/go down to the front desk to remind. They were not on top of things or maybe not communicating to each other well. We had a great time in Charleston but the hotel was a disappointment.

Didn't like: The restaurant was a little more fancy than expected but still good
