St. Thomas is a fantastic destination for group travel, offering a diverse range of accommodations beyond traditional hotels. Private villas and multi-bedroom condos are prevalent, providing ample space and amenities for groups of friends, family reunions, or special celebrations. Unlike some destinations where hotels are the primary option, St. Thomas excels with properties designed for shared experiences, often featuring private pools, expansive common areas, and incredible ocean views. Consider the island's terrain when choosing a location; many villas are perched on hillsides, offering panoramic vistas but potentially requiring rental cars for easy access. Beachfront condos, on the other hand, provide walkability to the sand and sometimes resort amenities. Parking can be a consideration for larger groups with multiple vehicles, so confirm availability with your chosen stay.
What to look for in a group stay here
When planning a group stay in St. Thomas, prioritize the number of bedrooms and bathrooms to ensure comfort and privacy for everyone. Aim for properties with at least one bathroom per two guests, and ideally, en-suite bathrooms for couples or smaller family units. Look for spacious common areas, both indoors and outdoors, such as large living rooms, dining tables, and expansive patios or decks. A well-equipped kitchen is essential for group meals, allowing for cost savings and shared cooking experiences. Private pools are a popular amenity and often a central gathering point for groups.
Beyond the basics, consider practical features like air conditioning throughout the property, especially in bedrooms, and the presence of a backup generator. Power outages can occur, so a generator ensures continuous comfort. Evaluate the location based on your group's interests. Properties in areas like Ditleff Point offer secluded luxury and privacy, often with expansive views, but might be a drive from main attractions. Condos at resorts like Elysian Beach Resort provide convenient beach access and proximity to dining and activities. Anywayr (formerly Travelry) recommends checking the property's proximity to grocery stores, restaurants, and popular beaches to minimize travel time.

Booking tips for larger groups
Booking for a larger group often involves different considerations than individual travel. Be prepared for higher deposits, both for booking and as a security deposit, which can be substantial for large villas. Carefully review cancellation policies, as they may be stricter for group bookings. It is wise to designate one person as the primary contact and payment organizer, or utilize group payment apps to simplify splitting costs. Confirm check-in and check-out procedures in advance, especially for private rentals, to ensure a smooth arrival and departure for your entire party.
