Planning a group trip to Paris requires a different approach to lodging than a solo or couple's visit. Traditional hotels often mean splitting up, but Paris offers many apartments and larger homes suitable for groups. Finding a rental that comfortably fits everyone, especially with multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, is key to a smooth experience. While Paris is highly walkable, especially in central areas, parking can be challenging, so proximity to public transport or key attractions is a plus. Popular neighborhoods like Le Marais, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, and Canal Saint-Martin offer distinct vibes and amenities, catering to various group interests. It is also wise to know which areas are less ideal for tourists, such as the surroundings of Gare du Nord or La Défense, which lack the charm and safety of more central districts.
What to look for in a group stay here
When selecting a group stay in Paris, consider your group's size and preferences. Anywayr (formerly Travelry)'s research shows the median group size for Paris is four people, with trips lasting around five days. For this, a two or three-bedroom apartment often works well, especially if it includes multiple bathrooms, which can significantly improve comfort and logistics for a larger party. Look for properties with at least two full bathrooms to avoid morning queues. Larger groups, such as family reunions or bachelorette parties, will benefit from four or five-bedroom layouts, providing ample personal space while still offering communal areas to gather.
Parisian neighborhoods each offer a unique character. Le Marais is consistently a top pick, known for its historic charm, trendy dining, and lively arts scene, making it excellent for groups interested in food, culture, and history. Saint-Germain-des-Prés offers a sophisticated atmosphere, ideal for those seeking art, fine dining, and classic Parisian experiences. For a more relaxed, hip vibe, Canal Saint-Martin is popular for its local markets and outdoor activities. Groups focused on nightlife might prefer Oberkampf or South Pigalle. The Latin Quarter is a good choice for history buffs and those wanting to explore academic sites and architecture. Consider your group's primary interests when choosing your base.
Some areas of Paris are less suitable for group stays, particularly for first-time visitors or those seeking a classic Parisian experience. Areas around Gare du Nord, including Stalingrad, are often mentioned for higher risks of petty theft and a less appealing atmosphere for evening leisure. Porte de la Chapelle also lacks tourist amenities and presents safety concerns at night. La Défense, while modern, is primarily a business district and lacks the historic character and charm that most groups desire for a Paris trip, making it feel disconnected from the city's main attractions.

Booking tips for larger groups
Booking for a larger group often involves specific considerations. Be sure to carefully review the property's deposit requirements, cancellation policies, and security deposit terms before confirming. Many vacation rentals require a larger upfront deposit or a non-refundable portion, especially for high-demand periods like March, April, and May. Clarify how security deposits are handled and when they are returned. For groups splitting costs, discuss payment arrangements early to avoid complications. Some platforms or hosts may offer options for staggered payments or allow different group members to pay portions directly, simplifying logistics.
