Myrtle Beach is a prime destination for group travel, whether you are planning a family reunion, a friends' getaway, or a special event. The area offers a wide array of lodging options designed to accommodate larger parties, from sprawling beach houses to multi-bedroom oceanfront condos. Unlike some destinations, Myrtle Beach often features properties with multiple bathrooms, which is a significant advantage for groups.
Neighborhood vibes vary, allowing groups to choose their ideal setting. Central Myrtle Beach provides easy access to the boardwalk, amusement parks, and lively entertainment, while areas further north or south can offer a more relaxed atmosphere. Parking is frequently a consideration for groups, especially those arriving in multiple vehicles; many vacation rentals provide dedicated parking spaces, but it is always wise to confirm. Walkability also differs greatly by location, with some properties being steps from the sand and others requiring a short drive to attractions.
What to look for in a group stay here
When selecting a group stay in Myrtle Beach, focus on the actual number of bedrooms and bathrooms rather than just the "sleeps" capacity. While a property might claim to sleep 12, it could mean relying on sofa beds in common areas, which may not be ideal for everyone. Aim for at least one bathroom per two bedrooms to ensure comfort and minimize morning queues. For larger groups, properties with three or more bathrooms are often a better fit.
Common pitfalls include underestimating the need for private spaces. Even if everyone enjoys being together, having separate bedrooms and quiet corners can make a big difference over a multi-day trip. Consider the layout: multi-level homes can offer distinct living areas, allowing different parts of the group to relax independently. Neighborhood tradeoffs are also key. If your group prioritizes nightlife and attractions, a central location might be best. For those seeking tranquility and direct beach access, a slightly more residential area could be preferable. Properties near golf courses cater well to groups planning to hit the links.

Booking tips for larger groups
Booking for a large group often involves specific considerations. Be prepared for higher deposits, as properties accommodating many guests may require a larger upfront payment. Always review cancellation policies carefully, as these can be stricter for group bookings. Security deposits are standard for vacation rentals and are typically returned after a damage-free stay. If your group plans to split costs, consider using a payment splitting app or assigning one person to manage the booking and collect funds. Confirming all details with the property manager or host well in advance helps ensure a smooth and enjoyable trip for everyone.
