Marrakech offers distinct experiences for groups, whether you are planning a family reunion, a friends' getaway, or a special event. Unlike standard hotel bookings, group lodging here often means securing an entire riad or a private villa. This provides a unique blend of privacy and shared spaces, allowing your party to truly bond and relax together. The choice between staying within the historic Medina or opting for a spacious villa outside the city walls significantly shapes your trip. Medina stays offer immediate access to souks, Djemaa el-Fna, and cultural sites, prioritizing walkability and an immersive experience. Villas in areas like Annakhil or Palmeraie provide more expansive grounds, private pools, and tranquility, though they typically require dedicated transportation to reach central attractions. Anywayr (formerly Travelry) helps you navigate these choices for a seamless group experience.
What to look for in a group stay here
When selecting a group stay in Marrakech, prioritize properties with ample private bedrooms and bathrooms. Many traditional riads and modern villas are designed with multiple suites, ensuring comfort and personal space for everyone in your party. Consider not just the total "sleeps" capacity, but also the number of actual bedrooms. For instance, a property sleeping 16 across eight distinct bedrooms offers significantly more privacy and comfort than one sleeping 16 across four large, shared rooms. Look for common areas like large living rooms, shaded courtyards, or expansive rooftop terraces that can comfortably accommodate your entire group for shared meals, relaxation, or evening gatherings.
The location is another critical factor influencing your group's experience. Staying in the Medina puts you at the heart of the action, with many riads offering an authentic, enclosed experience just steps from bustling markets and historical sites. However, these properties can be less accessible by car, and the vibrant, sometimes noisy, environment might not suit groups seeking complete quiet. Conversely, villas in the outskirts, such as Annakhil or Palmeraie, provide expansive grounds, larger private pools, and often dedicated staff for a more luxurious and secluded retreat. These locations offer a peaceful escape but require planning for daily commutes into the city center. Weigh your group's priorities for immediate accessibility to attractions versus desired amenities and spaciousness.

Booking tips for larger groups
When booking for a large group, always clarify deposit requirements and cancellation policies upfront. Many properties require a substantial upfront deposit, and cancellation terms can be stricter for whole-property rentals compared to individual room bookings. Inquire specifically about security deposits and how they are handled upon check-out. If your group plans to split costs, check if the property or booking platform offers tools or flexibility for multiple payments. Additionally, confirm any potential extra fees for services like airport transfers, private chefs, daily cleaning, or heating pools, as these can add up quickly for larger parties and impact your overall budget.
