Los Angeles, a sprawling metropolis, presents unique considerations for group lodging. Unlike cities with dense hotel districts, group stays here often mean choosing a spacious vacation rental that serves as a home base for your adventures. The sheer size of the city means selecting a neighborhood that aligns with your group's primary interests is key, as travel times between areas can be significant. Parking is almost always a necessity, and walkability varies dramatically by location, impacting how easily your group can explore on foot.
What to look for in a group stay here
When planning a group trip to Los Angeles, prioritize properties with at least four bedrooms to comfortably accommodate a larger party, especially if your group size is above the median of two. Many Anywayr (formerly Travelry) users traveling in groups appreciate multiple bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen for shared meals, and common areas where everyone can gather. Look for properties that clearly state their sleeping capacity and ensure it matches your group's needs, allowing for both shared experiences and individual privacy.
Neighborhood choice significantly impacts your group's experience. For beach and water sports, Santa Monica and Malibu are top choices, offering a relaxed coastal vibe. If nightlife and entertainment are priorities, West Hollywood and Santa Monica provide energetic scenes. For cultural experiences and unique shopping, Venice Beach and Downtown Los Angeles (DTLA) are popular. Beverly Hills offers a luxurious setting for shopping and architecture. Keep in mind that some areas, like Skid Row in DTLA, are best avoided due to safety concerns. Also, parts of Hollywood Boulevard can become overly crowded and less pleasant late at night.

Booking tips for larger groups
Booking a large group stay requires careful planning. Always confirm the property's cancellation policy and any security deposit requirements upfront. Many vacation rental platforms allow for splitting payments among group members, which can simplify logistics. Consider booking during popular months like May, March, April, or September to align with common Anywayr user patterns, but be aware that demand may be higher. Clear communication with the property owner or manager about your group's needs can help ensure a smooth and enjoyable stay.
