Anywayr wrote this. We make one of the two tools, so we have tried to be fair and say where Expedia is better.
The short answer
Both let ChatGPT or Claude search hotels and flights with real prices. They are built for different trips.
- Pick Expedia if you are booking for yourself, want the widest choice of hotels and flights with no sign-in, and are happy to finish on Expedia.
- Pick Anywayr if several people have to agree on the trip, or you want the plan, the quote and the checkout to stay together in one saved trip.
Side by side
| Expedia in ChatGPT and Claude | Anywayr connector | |
|---|---|---|
| Where it works | ChatGPT app; Claude connector directory | Claude (custom connector), ChatGPT (developer mode), Claude Code, VS Code, Codex CLI |
| Sign-in | None needed in Claude | Anywayr account |
| What it searches | Hotels and flights | Hotels and flights, flight deals from your home airport, and trip plans |
| Saved trip | Expedia bookings appear in Expedia Trips | A saved trip with its own link, created from the chat |
| Group planning | Not described on the pages we checked | Share the trip link; friends vote on stays and track who owes what |
| Exact quote before booking | Not described on the pages we checked | Yes, an expiring quote with the total and cancellation terms |
| Where the booking finishes | Expedia: "click Book on Expedia" to finish | Anywayr checkout page. In Claude, VS Code and Codex you can also allow saved card booking in the chat for fully refundable bookings within your limit |
| Price to use | Free | Free to connect, plan and search. You pay for what you book |
"Not described" means the page does not say it; it does not mean the feature is missing.

Where Expedia is better
- No account to start. In Claude you can search Expedia without signing in.
- Easier to find. Expedia is listed in Claude's connector directory and is an app in ChatGPT. Anywayr is added by pasting an address, and in ChatGPT it needs developer mode for now.
- Size. Expedia is one of the largest travel sites, with a large choice of hotels and flights in one place.
- Your Expedia account. If you already collect Expedia rewards or keep your bookings there, the connector fits what you already use.
Where Anywayr is better
- Trips with other people. Anywayr saves a trip the whole group can open. Friends see the same hotels, vote and keep track of costs, instead of reading a screenshot from your chat.
- Plan and book in one thread. The same connector saves the trip, searches hotels and flights for its dates and travelers, quotes and checks out.
- An exact total before you agree. Anywayr's quote shows the final price and cancellation terms, and it expires, so you are not paying a stale price.
- Booking without leaving the chat, where you allow it. In Claude, VS Code and Codex you can turn on saved card booking for fully refundable bookings, up to a limit you set. It is off by default.
Which should you pick?
- Just you, booking soon: Expedia is quick and needs no account.
- A group trip: add Anywayr to Claude or ChatGPT and share the trip link.
- Not sure: add both. An assistant can use more than one connector, and you can compare the totals.
