Three ways to get the water into an Orlando trip:
- The coast. Cocoa Beach is the closest Atlantic beach, about an hour away. It works as a day trip, so you don't need to move hotels.
- The springs. Wekiwa Springs State Park, about 17 miles north of downtown Orlando, has a swimming area that stays at 72°F all year. There are no lifeguards and no diving or jumping (Florida State Parks). Check before you go whether the park needs a day-use reservation. Blue Spring State Park is different in winter: swimming closes from 15 November to 31 March for manatee season, and you watch the manatees from the boardwalk instead (Florida State Parks). For a November or December trip, that is a good outing for families.
- The water parks. Disney has two, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. Outside summer it usually opens only one at a time and swaps them around March and November. In 2026 both were open from 26 May to 8 September (Disney Food Blog). Check which one is open for your dates before promising the kids a particular slide.

November and December. Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party runs on 25 select nights from 8 November to 22 December in 2026, with tickets from $189 to $229 a person (Walt Disney World).
August, and the storm season. The Atlantic hurricane season runs from 1 June to 30 November, and most activity falls between mid-August and mid-October (NOAA). Orlando is inland, but storms can still disrupt flights, so book refundable rates where you can for August to October.
